Venice Beach native. Global Citizen. Adventurer. Artist.
Peter Goetz draws his inspiration from roadside connections and the adrenaline of the unknown. His dedication to learning diverse cultures and living on the edge has brought him to work as an Executive Producer for the Discovery Channel, National Geographic, and other leading adventure networks.
In addition to being recognized for his distinctive production work, Goetz is an acclaimed photographer and soulful musician. With each new opportunity, Goetz finds himself enveloped and inspired by his surroundings. He speaks both Spanish and Portuguese, opening up experiences to direct an award winning bilingual documentary film, and compose trilingual songs that have granted him the opportunities to tour Australia and perform at the X-Games in Brazil. In addition, his innovative photography techniques capturing polar bears in the Arctic to primates in the Amazon have led to global exhibits of his work.
Needless to say, Goetz has found a comfortable place for himself in music and photography by expressing his adventurous lifestyle through his diverse talents. Thanks to his natural draw and eye for the extraordinary, Goetz’ ability to transform true-to-life experience into rhythmic storytelling and captivating imagery, is something of a lost art.
On his recent tour through Brazil; the music, locals, and the overwhelming beauty of the Brazilian culture took Goetz by surprise. While in Rio De Janeiro, Goetz recorded two tracks with Arthur Maia and Sergio Chiavazzoli, both long-time veterans of Gilberto Gil’s band, Brazil’s former minister of culture. This experience inspired Goetz beyond expectation and soon, what was intended to be a few songs organically grew to be Goetz’s introductory full-length album titled Indian Summer.
After having the honor of working with some of Brazil’s top musicians, Goetz returned home to California to record the remainder of the album. Goetz and Producer Sidh Solanki teamed up with an all-star cast of players: Jason Yates (Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, Citizen Cope), Dave Ralicke (Jack Johnson, Beck, Fiest), Grecco Burratto (Sergio Mendes, Shakira) to name a few. The album is peppered with trilingual lyrics and catchy hooks. Goetz’s stripped down and soulful California sound paired with his unforgettable sessions in Brazil have yielded a cross-cultural fusion of California soul, reggae and world beats.
Crystal Ball: Longing for a departure from his everyday grind, Peter gets pulled into the colorful culture of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.
Freeflowing: While on tour in Australia, Goetz teams up with his talented creative circle to produce an introspective, cinematic adventure of life on the road.
“Goetz and his fellow musicians pieced together the album on two continents. Smooth, soft lyrics accompanied by melodies of flute, ukelele, Hammond B3, Vibraphone, Cavaquinho and many more combine to create an original beach-reggae, soul-roots sound.” – The Dub Side
“Sounding like the illegitimate love child of Manu Chao and Jack Johnson his is a sound that belongs to camp fires, surfing trips and sunset beers,” – Ben Adams, MTV Australia
